The Broadcast Freedom Act of 2009 was re-introduced in both the House and Senate yesterday. Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) first introduced the bill in 2007 along with Rep. Greg Walden (R-OR). It is the bill aimed at stopping any re-establishment of the Fairness Doctrine. Senate sponsor Jim DeMint (R-SC) says the Act "would keep radio airwaves free from government censorship and suppression." DeMint's co-sponsor is Sen. John Thune (R-SD). The bill has 24 co-sponsors on the Senate side and more than 110 in the House. This bill has the National Religious Broadcasters' full support.
