Laughing 'Under the Influence'
Anyone who has ever attended a Ken Davis comedy event knows that when you leave, your face will hurt from laughing so hard. This was definitely the case for the nearly 800 Thy Word Network listeners who showed up at Bellevue Baptist Church in Owensboro, Ky. on Friday night, March 6.
Ken was in rare form during a show that ran almost two hours, keeping the audience in stitches with some great real-life stories and observations. He also had the opportunity for impromtu humor during two special events facilitated by Thy Word Network's Susan Turner and Bellevue's tech staff.
Listener Jason S. from Newburgh, Ind. surprised girlfriend Crystal with tickets to the event as part of a date night. But unbeknownst to Crystal, he had an even bigger surprise up his sleeve. Right before the show picked up again after an intermission, the audience was greeted with the following video slides:
As you may have guessed, she said "Yes!"
At the end of the night, we were able to celebrate another life milestone - the 7th birthday of a young listener named Willie. Ken called Willie onstage, where he asked Willie a few questions about himself, and lead the audience in singing "Happy Birthday." Apparently determining that Willie was an upstanding young man, Ken asked the tech crew to put up on the screen a photo of his three adorable granddaughters. Ken asked Willie to take a good look at the photo, and then, "Pick one." The audience loved it, but I'm not sure exactly what Willie thought about that particular birthday present!
As a staff, we definitely enjoyed this great evening with Ken Davis and so many of our wonderful listeners! We owe many thanks to the staff of Bellevue, our volunteer ushers and merchandise table workers, and Ken Davis and his staff. We hope to do this again soon!
